Immediate Action:This is the action that should be taken if someone has been unfortunate enough to have accidentally touched a live electrical cable and as a result has been shocked. The action has to be prompt and without debate and more than anything else, it should be be cool and methodical. If you are with the victim, do not touch them or you will get shocked too. The first and most important thing to do is to isolate the electrical supply and if the victim is still touching the hazard, then, with an insulated object try remove the victim from the hazard. If all else fails pull the victim away from the hazard with loose clothing but at no point should the victim be touched directly, anywhere. Bear in mind this will all happen very quickly. Camden Plumbers are trained in first aid. When free of the electrical hazard place the victim in a position to begin resuscitation if their breathing has stopped: Resuscitation:If you check and find that the victim HAS stopped breathing, with the victim laying on their back, pinch their nose and tilt the head back whilst supporting the neck, place your mouth over the victims and blow hard. As you blow you should observe the chest rise and fall. Repeat this action every 5 to 6 seconds and for approximately 10 to 12 times. The emergency services must be called as soon as possible. If there is no form of communication at the location, then you need to shout very loudly for assistance, or if there is someone else present, then, tell them to go and raise the alarm as time is critical. Keep trying to resuscitate until hopefully the victim starts to breathe unaided or the paramedics have arrived. Camden Town Plumbers can deal with any emergency situation. The Recovery Position:With any luck the victim will start to breathe by themself. If they do, then, place them on their side, with their head sideways and resting on their outstretched arm, and legs bent, ensuring their airway is clear. Keep them warm. DO NOT try and make the victim sit upright, just keep them still until the ambulance arrives.
